Sixteen people arrested during Brussels raids

Sixteen people have been arrested during raids in Brussels, the federal prosecutor has said.

Salah Abdeslam, a key suspect in the Paris attacks, was not among those arrested on Sunday.

Two shots were fired on a vehicle in the Molenbeek district during the operation.

"A vehicle ran into the police, after which police fired two shots," Eric Van Der Sypt told a press conference on Sunday night. "The vehicle rushed off but was intercepted later in Brussels. The driver, a man who was hurt, was arrested."

In total, 19 houses were searched across Greater Brussels, as well as three in Charleroi, but no firearms or explosives were found.
