Two different Islamist groups claim responsibility for Mali attack

Two different Islamist jihadi groups have said they were behind massacre at a hotel in Mali.

President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta said 19 people were killed and a further seven injured after militants seized 170 hostages at the Radisson Blu in Bamako.

Two Islamist militants were also killed.

Al-Qaeda affiliated group 'claim responsibility for Mali hotel attack'

An African Jihadist group affiliated with al Qaeda claimed responsibility on Friday for the attack and ongoing hostage-taking at a business hotel in the Malian capital Bamako, according to Reuters.

Al-Mourabitoun, a group based in northern Mali and made up mostly of Tuaregs and Arabs, posted a message on Twitter saying it was behind the attack on the Radisson Blu hotel, where hostages are still being held.

The claim could not immediately be verified.
