Two different Islamist groups claim responsibility for Mali attack

Two different Islamist jihadi groups have said they were behind massacre at a hotel in Mali.

President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta said 19 people were killed and a further seven injured after militants seized 170 hostages at the Radisson Blu in Bamako.

Two Islamist militants were also killed.

'10 gunmen stormed Mali hotel shouting Allahu Akbar'

Ten gunmen have stormed a luxury hotel in Mali taking 170 people hostage, according to a senior security source.

The source told Reuters the men entered the Radisson Blu in the Mali capital of Bamako shouting "Allahu Akbar" - which means "God is great".

The hotel chain previously said two attackers had stormed the building and they were doing everything they could to provide assistance.
