Ex-boyfriend sentenced for life for acid attack on woman

A man from Suffolk who arranged to have acid thrown in his ex-girlfriend's face has been sentenced to life with a minimum of 13 years in prison.

Anthony Riley, 29, orchestrated a campaign of violence against Adele Bellis, 23, who lost her ear and hair when attacked with sulphuric acid at a bus stop in Lowestoft.

Speaking outside court, Miss Bellis called for acid attackers to receive automatic life sentences.

Acid attack victim: I felt like I was on fire

A woman has described how she felt like she was "on fire" when she had acid thrown over her on the orders of her jealous ex-boyfriend.

"I was just running; I was begging for water; I was screaming," Adele Bellis told ITV News.

"People stopped and helped me...when the water was chucked over me I just smoked and ran again because I was just on fire."
