Cameron attacks 'Britain-hating' Corbyn in conference speech

David Cameron accused Jeremy Corbyn of having a "security-threatening, terrorist-sympathising, Britain-hating ideology" as he addressed the Conservative party conference for the first time since the party's General Election victory.

The Prime Minister also discussed segregation in Britain, the conflict in Syria and a vision for his legacy as leader, as well as outlining plans for 200,000 affordable new homes.

Mr Cameron's speech closes the four-day conference in Manchester, which has been dominated by speculation over his successor as leader.

Two arrests as tens of thousands protest at Tory conference

A young Conservative delegate was egged by activists as he made his way to the conference in Manchester.

Up to 85,000 people are claimed to have joined the demonstrations against austerity, and while they have been largely good-natured, two arrests were made - one of whom allegedly spat at a journalist.

The man was hit by the egg shortly after holding a picture of Margaret Thatcher and promising not to be concerned by "socialist nutters".

A crowd consistently shouted "Tory scum" as he and other young Conservatives stood outside the venue.

Later, Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt had to enter the conference surrounded by police after being spotted by the demonstrators.

Among the marching protesters pictured in the city were people dressed in funereal costume, with a coffin reading "NHS".
