Swiss investigators say they have opened criminal proceedings against Fifa president Sepp Blatter.

The Swiss Attorney General said it is investigating Blatter on a number of allegations:

  • Blatter is being investigated on suspicion of criminal mismanagement as well as - alternatively - on suspicion of misappropriation.
  • He is also suspected of signing a contract in 2005 with the Caribbean Football Union that was "unfavourable" for Fifa.
  • There is a suspicion that, in the implementation of the 2005 contract, Blatter also violated his duties and acted against the interest of FIFA and/or FIFA Marketing & TV AG.
  • Blatter is also accused of making "a disloyal payment" in 2011 to UEFA president Michel Platini, at the expense of Fifa, allegedly made for work performed between January 1999 and June 2002.
