Two police officers to face misconduct hearings over 'plebgate' affair
Two senior police officers are set to face misconduct hearings over the "plebgate" affair involving former chief whip Andrew Mitchell.
Inspector Ken Mackaill for West Mercia Police and Detective Sergeant Stuart Hinton from Warwickshire Police, have been accused of gross misconduct. Both forces said that there was a "case to answer".
The development comes after a meeting with Mr Mitchell in October 2012 at his constituency office in Sutton Coldfield. Last November, Andrew Mitchell strongly denied using the word "pleb" and lost a high-profile action against News Group Newspapers, publishers of the Sun.
