Police release CCTV footage after Ferguson shooting anniversary violence

Police in America have released CCTV footage which they say shows a teenager pulling a gun from his waistband shortly before he was shot by officers.

A state of emergency was declared in St. Louis County in the US following violence in the town of Ferguson during events to mark a year since the police shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown.

Tyrone Harris, who was shot by police during Sunday's memorial, has been charged with four counts of assault. Police said the CCTV shows him with a gun.

State of emergency declared in St. Louis after Ferguson anniversary violence

A state of emergency has been declared in St. Louis County following last night's violence in Ferguson, during events to mark a year since the police shooting of an unarmed black teenager.

St. Louis County Executive Steve Senger said: "The recent acts of violence will not be tolerated in a community that has worked so tirelessly over the last year to rebuild and become stronger."

"In light of last night's violence and unrest in the city of Ferguson, and the potential for harm to persons and property, I am exercising my authority as county executive to issue a state of emergency effective immediately".
