Former Chelsea striker to join Shanghai Shenhua

Demba Ba is set to join Shanghai Shenhua, the Chinese club have announced on their website.

The former Newcastle and Chelsea striker was a target for West Brom this summer, but it seems Tony Pulis has missed out on his signature for a second time.

Pulis failed to land Ba as Stoke manager following a failed medical several years ago, allowing Newcastle to snap him up instead.

Shanghai-based club Shenhua recently finished 9th in the Chinese Super League, and have reportedly paid Besiktas a fee of £9.5m for the striker's services.

There had been no official word from Besiktas until this afternoon, when the Turkish giants confirmed that negotiations were taking place.
