Eight men appear in court over Hatton Garden jewellery heist

Eight men have been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged in connection with the Hatton Garden jewellery raid.

The men - aged between 48 and 76 - have all been charged with conspiracy to burgle.

Westminster Magistrates Court heard today that 73 safety deposit boxes, worth in excess of £10 million, were stolen over the Easter weekend.

Eight men remanded in custody over Hatton raid

Eight men have been remanded in custody charged in connection with the Hatton Garden jewellery raid.

The men, who appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court charged with conspiracy to burgle, were:

  • Terry Perkins, 67, Heene Road, Enfield
  • Daniel Jones, 58, Blestoe Walk, Enfield
  • Hugh Doyle, 48, Riverside Gardens, Enfield
  • William Lincoln, 59, Winkley Street, Bethnal Green
  • John Collins, 74, Winkley Street, Islington
  • Brian Reader, 76, Dartford Road, Dartford
  • Paul Reader, 50, Dartford Road, Dartford
  • Carl Wood, 58, Elderbeck Close, Cheshunt

The men - who spoke only to confirm their names, addresses and dates of birth - are next due to appear at Southwark Crown Court on June 4.

The charge states that together, between April 1 and May 19 this year, they conspired to enter as a trespasser a building, namely The Hatton Garden Safety Deposit at 88-90 Hatton Gardens EC1, with intent to steal.

At the hearing, prosecutor Edmund Hall said the total value of the 73 safety deposit boxes stolen ran "in excess of £10 million".
