VIP abuse probe: Police experiencing 'Savile effect'

Revelations about Jimmy Savile's prolific sex abuse has led to an "unprecedented increase" in the number of people reporting allegations, police say.

Norfolk Chief Constable Simon Bailey, the NPCC's lead on child protection, said referrals were increasing on an "almost daily basis" after revealing more than 1,400 suspects had been investigated as part of a historical sex abuse probe.

We are seeing an unprecedented increase in the number of reports that are coming forward.
