Eight men appear in court over Hatton Garden jewellery heist

Eight men have been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged in connection with the Hatton Garden jewellery raid.

The men - aged between 48 and 76 - have all been charged with conspiracy to burgle.

Westminster Magistrates Court heard today that 73 safety deposit boxes, worth in excess of £10 million, were stolen over the Easter weekend.

Eight men charged over the Hatton Garden heist

Eight men have been charged with conspiracy to burgle following the Hatton Garden heist, Scotland Yard said.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police's Flying Squad tonight charged Terry Perkins, 67, Daniel Jones, 58, Hugh Doyle, 48, all of Enfield, along with William Lincoln, 59, of Bethnal Green, east London, and John Collins, 74, of north London.

Brian Reeder, 76, and Paul Reeder, 50, both of Dartford, and Carl Wood, 58, of Cheshunt, also face the same charge.

All eight men have been remanded in custody and will appear before Westminster Magistrates Court on Thursday.

A ninth man has been bailed "to a date to be confirmed pending further enquiries", the Metropolitan Police said.
