Sturgeon: Our job is to stand up for Scotland against Tories

Nicola Sturgeon has said that SNP's job "is to stand up for Scotland against the Conservatives."

The nationalists, who won just six seats in 2010, have soared to 56 seats as Labour's support north of the border suffered a massive collapse.

Our job is to stand up for Scotland against the Conservatives.

I didn't want to see a Conservative Government, Labour were unable to beat the Conservatives in England, I think that makes it even more important that we have a strong team of SNP MPs to fight Scotland's corner and to stand up for Scotland and that's what we plan to do.

– Nicola Sturgeon, SNP leader
