After six weeks of campaigning there is just one hour left to cast your vote in the General Election.

Six weeks of campaigning officially come to an end today as the British public went to the polls in the General Election.

Polling stations open at 7am and close at 10pm, with the first results due to start coming in from around an hour before midnight.

Election day weather outlook: Mostly dry and sunny

Weather conditions are likely to be mostly dry across the United Kingdom today as voters prepare to cast their ballots in the General Election.

Despite recent rain and high winds, sunny spells are expected to be commonplace in the main, though there is an outside chance of some passing showers in parts of south-east England and south Wales as the day goes on.
