One solider has died after the Turkish military launched an operation to evacuate its soldiers who were guarding the Suleyman Shah tomb in Syria, Reuters news agency reports.
The Turkish government said last year that Islamic State militants were advancing on the mausoleum, which is guarded by about 40 Turkish soldiers.
One Turkish soldier was killed in an accident during the operation to evacuate troops from the Suleyman Shah tomb in Syria, two senior Turkish officials told Reuters.
The operation is now complete and Turkish soldiers have been successfully evacuated.
