Miliband tells Boots boss to 'start paying his taxes'
Labour leader Ed Miliband has launched a verbal attack on the head of Boots, telling the businessman to stop advising voters what to do and "start paying his taxes".
Miliband outed Boots' Stefano Pessina as a tax-avoider after the acting chief executive said the party leader would be a "catastrophe" as prime minister.
Speaking at an Ask the Leaders event Miliband said: "It turns out that the chairman of Boots lives in Monaco and is actually avoiding his taxes.
"I've just got to say to you, I don't think people in Britain are going to take kindly to being lectured by someone who is avoiding his taxes on how they should be voting in the UK general election."
Pessina told The Telegraph this weekend that Miliband’s plans for political power were “not helpful for business, not helpful for the country and in the end it probably won’t be helpful for them”.
