Hundreds attend funeral of school teacher killed in bin lorry tragedy

Hundreds of mourners have gathered at a Glasgow church today for the funeral of a primary school teacher killed in the bin lorry crash tragedy.

Stephenie Tait, aged 29, is the last of the six victims to be laid to rest.

She died just days before Christmas alongside Jack and Lorraine Sweeney and their granddaughter Erin McQuade, Gillian Ewing, and Jacqueline Morton, 51.

Mother witnessed death of parents and daughter

A mother picking up some last-minute Christmas bits saw her parents and daughter killed by a bin lorry which careered out of control in Glasgow city centre, it has emerged.

Jacqueline McQuade had reportedly left the group to take out some money from a cash machine when the van mounted the pavement and hit her family.

Her daughter, 18-year-old Erin McQuade, died in the tragic smash, along with her parents Jack and Lorraine Sweeney, all from Dumbarton.

Stephenie Tait and Jacqueline Morton, both from Glasgow, and Gillian Ewing, from Edinburgh, were also killed.

A special church service to remember the victims and share condolence with the grieving families will be held at St Andrew's Cathedral at 1pm, led by Archbishop of Glasgow Philip Tartaglia.
