Clarke Carlisle is "very poorly" but "alive and stable" after being seriously injured in a collision with a lorry yesterday, his wife said today.

Football sends support and best wishes to Clarke Carlisle

Organisations across the football community have sent former Professional Footballers' Association chairman their support and best wishes following reports he was injured in a collision with a lorry.

Anti-racism organisation Kick It Out, for which Carlisle is an ambassador, posted:

North Yorkshire police have appealed for witnesses to the collision on the A64 near the village of Bishopthorpe, at 7.30am on Monday.
