Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution said 4,200 customers remain without power as Britain prepares for a so-called "weather bomb" set to batter the country.

The company said its engineers have restored power to more than 27,000 homes since this morning and thanked its customers for their patience.
Wintry showers will move across Scotland and Northern Ireland, with a few light showers in Devon and Cornwall.
