World of cricket pays tribute to Phillip Hughes

Tributes have been paid to cricketer Phillip Hughes who has died, aged 25.

The Australian died two days after being struck on the head by a bouncer while batting for South Australia against New South Wales at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

MCC boss pays tribute to 'prodigious talent' Hughes

The head of cricket at Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has paid tribute to Australian batsman Phil Hughes, who he called a "prodigious talent" on the field.

John Stephenson said Hughes had instantly impressed when he arrived at Lord's, calling him an "amazing young player, very talented."

Hughes had already scored two test match centuries by the time he turned 20.

Mr Stephenson went on to tell ITV News that Hughes was on the verge of getting back into the test team, and would have had "10 good years" at the top had tragedy not struck.
