David Cameron chairs Cobra meeting on IS threat

David Cameron was briefed today about the ongoing hunt for Islamic State (IS) militants responsible for the murders of Western hostages.

The Prime Minister chaired a session of the Government's Cobra committee where he was updated by intelligence chiefs about their progress in trying to track down militants responsible for killing westerners including US hostage Peter Kassig.

David Cameron will chair the Government's Cobra emergency committee today to assess progress in the fight against Islamic State (IS).

The Prime Minister vowed that the terrorists would face "justice" after video footage surfaced apparently showing the murder of US hostage Peter Kassig.

Senior intelligence and military officials are expected to attend the Cobra meeting.
