CBI: Archbishop says Britain 'in danger of becoming a world of haves and have-nots'
The Archbishop of York has warned that Britain is at risk of becoming a country of haves and have-nots if wage inequalities continue.
Speaking at today's CBI conference John Sentamu, urged businesses to pay the Living Wage of £9.15 an hour in London and £7.85 outside the capital, instead of the £6.50 national minimum wage, saying: "income inequality is a giant we must slay together."
He said: "It has become clear that the minimum wage is inadequate, with many people in work suffering increased poverty. Britain is in danger of the haves and have-nots living in separate worlds."
