Ten arrests during 'Million Masks March' in London

Police have made ten arrests after anti-capitalist activists took to the streets of central London tonight in a so-called 'Million Masks March'.

Demonstrators wearing Guy Fawkes masks and carrying banners and placards descended on Trafalgar Square before marching towards Parliament Square.

There were clashes with police in Parliament Square, with some protesters throwing barriers at riot officers.

Five arrests during 'Million Masks March'

Police said that as of 10.10pm this evening there had been five arrests relating to the 'Million Masks March' through London.

A man was held on suspicion of a fireworks offence, before being subsequently "de-arrested".

A second man believed to be in his early 30s was arrested near Buckingham Palace on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, and a 37-year old woman was arrested in nearby Birdcage Walk on suspicion of the same offence.

Two further people have been arrested - one on suspicion of obstruction of the highway and one on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.
