Pistorius' friend says custodial sentence was 'inevitable'

A friend of Oscar Pistorius said a custodial sentence was "inevitable" for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Speaking from his home in Shropshire, Mike Kendrick told Good Morning Britain: "He did kill Reeva. He didn't mean to but he did so I think it was pretty inevitable and quite a balanced judgement."

"It's a terrifying prospect for anybody that's disabled particularly with Oscar being so famous which makes it a lot worse because he's going to be the subject of a lot of abuse potentially."

He said he "feared" for his friend who he said was in a "very depressed state."

"He's a completely broken man as you would expect after a tragedy like this. I mean he's lost his fortune, he's lost his whole career, he's lost everything and I'm concerned for him from that point of view."
