Oscar Pistorius has spent his first night in prison after being sentenced to five years for the manslaughter of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. It is understood the athlete will spend part of his term under house arrest.
He was also handed a suspended three-year sentence for firearms offences.
Oscar Pistorius' uncle has said that he accepts his nephew's sentence, adding that Oscar "will embrace this opportunity to pay back to society".
He added that he hoped Oscar would "begin his own healing process".
"As a family we are ready to help and guide Oscar as he serves his sentence," he said.
