Exclusive: Teenage victim's account of sexual abuse ignored by police

Police in Manchester failed to investigate claims of sexual abuse despite receiving a written account from the teenage victim, ITV News can reveal.

Victoria Agoglia Byrne, 15, died from a suspected drugs overdose in 2003 but police have never pursued allegations from her and her family that she was sexually exploited by a gang of older men.

It follows revelations by ITV News that Greater Manchester Police failed to act on an internal report detailing claims of abuse against numerous girls in 2004.

Police are to re-open an investigation into the 2003 death of Rochdale teenager Victoria Agoglia Byrne after an ITV News investigation revealed overlooked evidence of sexual abuse. Here is a timeline of her case:
