Duchess to miss Invictus Games opening due to morning sickness

The Duchess of Cambridge, who is suffering from acute morning sickness, will not attend the Invictus Games opening ceremony this evening or the athletics event tomorrow, Kensington Palace said.

Kate, who is expecting her second child, was also forced to cancel an engagement in Oxford earlier this week.

Meanwhile, David Beckham has given some friendly advice to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge ahead of their new arrival - get some more sleep.

"With the commitments that they have to be a great mum and dad is pretty incredible," Beckham said.

There is already speculation that the royal couple's second child could be due in April.

Kate's sickness could be worse than first pregnancy

The Duchess of Cambridge could face worse sickness during her second pregnancy than her first, experts have said.

It is the same illness which led the Duchess to be treated in hospital for three nights in December 2012 while she was pregnant with Prince George.

"It's highly likely that if you have had it before you will have it again and it's generally worse in subsequent pregnancies. It starts earlier and is usually more severe," Nicola James, trustee of the charity Pregnancy Sickness Support, said.
