Death of G.R.L. singer Simone Battle ruled a suicide

The death of G.R.L. band singer Simone Battle has been ruled a suicide by hanging.

The cause of death was determined two days after the 25-year-old was found dead in her West Hollywood home, Los Angeles County Coroner's Lieutenant Fred Corral said.

Battle became known through her performances on The X Factor USA and the group featured on rapper Pitbull's hit song Wild Wild Love earlier this year.

X Factor judges Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini have led tributes to pop singer Simone Battle, a former contestant on the US show, who was found dead yesterday.

Simon Cowell took to Twitter to offer his condolences saying:

It is not yet known how Battle died. Cheryl said it was "such tragically sad news".

Battle found chart success with girl band G.R.L, who formed in 2013 and were billed as the new Pussycat Dolls.

And their new single Ugly Heart was set to enter the top five of the UK's Official Chart this week.

Original Pussycat Doll and former X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger spoke of her devastation at hearing the news and said she was dedicating her performance tonight in South Africa to Battle.
