Flooding and high winds hit parts of UK amid Bertha storm

Heavy rain and strong winds have begun to affect parts of the UK as the remnants of Hurricane Bertha arrived.

The Met Office - which has issued yellow weather warnings telling people to "be aware" of downpours - said the rain was most severe at around 3am.

Hurricane Bertha hit the Caribbean on Monday, with 90mph winds reported.

Weather: Wet and windy in the north overnight

It will be wet and windy in the north overnight, as a low pressure system sits through the North Sea.

In to tomorrow, it will stay unseasonably wet across Scotland and the far north of England, while there will be brighter skies with showers in the south.
