Bertha brings Cornwall festival to an early end

The third day of the Boardmasters festival at Fistral Beach in Cornwall was cancelled today after heavy rain and strong winds last night struck the site, causing one stage to collapse.

The event began on Friday and had been due to conclude today with a headline performance from the band Bastille.

Organisers said: "We have decided that the magnitude of the conditions is too severe for the arena site to be opened."

Ticketholders will be eligible for refunds.
