Three top Hamas commanders killed in Israeli strike

Three senior Hamas military commanders have been killed in Israeli air strike in the Gaza Strip, the Islamist militant group said.

Hamas named the men as Mohammed Abu Shammala, Raed al-Attar and Mohammed Barhoum and said they were killed in a bombing of a house in the southern town of Rafah.

Civilians hit by fresh attacks as ceasefire unravels

At least 40 Palestinians have been killed today by Israeli shelling today along with two soldiers as the ceasefire quickly unraveled.

Israel and Hamas accused each other of breaking the cease-fire, took effect at 8:00 am local time this morning. Fighting broke out less than two hours later.

As fighting raged on, resident of Rafah fled their homes and ran for cover, whilst Rafah hospital was inundated with injured civilians, including children.
