Stephen Sutton among Queen's Birthday Honours

Teenage cancer victim Stephen Sutton has been honoured with an MBE in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours, just weeks after losing his fight against the disease.

Singer and broadcaster Cerys Matthews gets an MBE

Singer and broadcaster Cerys Matthews said she was honoured to land an MBE for her services to music - and said it was more for the records she had played on air, than the ones she had made herself.

The 45 year old said: "I am delighted to receive this honour, and accept it not so much for the music I've made but for the music I've played on my BBC 6 Music show.

"Folk , blues , jazz , traditional music whose authors didn't receive recognition in their lifetimes. I am passionate about sharing music, through writing books, making documentaries and, of course, through the wonder that is radio... and to receive recognition for this is incredible."

Matthews, formerly the singer of Welsh band Catatonia and now a radio and TV presenter, said it was "incredible" to be recognised for her passion for sharing her love of music
