Home Secretary Theresa May has denied Labour allegations that she broke the Ministerial Code by authorising the publication of a private letter to Michael Gove about alleged extremism in some Birmingham schools.

19 of 21 Birmingham schools 'to be told to improve'

ITV News understands that just two of the 21 Birmingham city schools inspected by Ofsted are expected to keep their "Good" or "Outstanding" ratings, with the rest told they must improve.

  • 19 out of 21 schools will be told they need to improve, ITV News understands
  • Between six and 7 out of the 19 will receive and "inadequate" rating, and be put into special measures, meaning it will be stripped of its management and governors

The reports are due to be published next week.
