Met Police begin trialling 'body-worn video' cameras

Landmark changes to operational policing will be trialled from today in a bid to boost transparency and accelerate convictions. Met Police officers will wear tiny cameras on their uniform, designed to capture evidence and support prosecution cases.

Camden first to have 'body-worn video' cameras

The Borough of Camden will be the first to take delivery of the new "body-worn-video" cameras, with further trials in:

  • Barnet
  • Bexley
  • Bromley
  • Brent
  • Croydon
  • Ealing
  • Havering
  • Hillingdon
  • Lewisham

Officers will store material from each incident and keep it on file for a month, unless it is required for the purposes of evidence.
