British educated hotelier feared murdered in Caribbean
A hotelier who was educated in Britain is feared to have been murdered on the Caribbean island of St Lucia.
It has been reported that the family of Oliver Gobat were waiting for confirmation that a charred body found in a burnt-out car on the Cap Estate, an exclusive resort area on the island, is that of the property developer and former Surrey junior cricketer.
A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We're aware of reports and we are looking into them urgently."
Daley Thompson, Double Olympic decathlon champion, tweeted: "My love and thoughts go out to friends and family of Ollie Gobat. He was a gem and his family must've been so proud of him. RIP my friend. X"
Sources locally are said to have identified the victim as Mr Gobat. He was born on St Lucia but was privately educated in Britain and worked as a property developer on the island.
