Government should 'review use of anti-flu drug Tamiflu'

Ministers should review the use of a widely used anti-flu medication, scientists have said after new research has questioned the efficacy of the drug. The Government may have wasted hundreds of millions on stockpiling Tamiflu, the report added.

'Good evidence' Tamiflu works, says flu virologist

A leading virologist has defended the Tamiflu drug, saying there is "good evidence" that it works in flu pandemics.

Professor Wendy Barclay of Imperial College told Health Science and Medical Editor Lawrence McGinty the public would be "outraged" if there were a pandemic and no stockpile of anti-viral drugs such as Tamiflu was available.
