With less than three months to go until the World Cup in Brazil, the police have been sent into Rio's favelas - its shanty towns - in a bid to clean up the streets.

Ten weeks before the start of the World Cup in Brazil, police are making a final push to sweep clean some of Rio's most crime-ridden areas. Just a mile from the airport where teams and fans will arrive, there were scenes today resembling a military operation.
