First look at Peter Capaldi's The Doctor in full regalia

The bow tie may have been the preferred fashion choice for Matt Smith's Doctor, but it appears Peter Capaldi's incarnation could be defined by a dark blue Crombie coat.

BBC bosses have released the first picture of Capaldi's character in full Time Lord regalia since he became the 12th Doctor during the BBC show's Christmas Day special.

Sporting a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, a white shirt as well as black Dr Marten shoes, the look was created by Doctor Who costume designer Howard Burden.

Lifelong Dr Who fan Capaldi said, "He's woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100% rebel Time Lord."
