American Hustle and Gravity lead the Oscar nominations with 10 each. British films Philomena and 12 Years A Slave, directed by Londoner Steve McQueen, are both nominated for the best picture Oscar.

Actress Judi Dench has said she is "proud" to have been nominated for the best actress Oscar, for her role in Philomena.
She said: "This is just the loveliest news. I'm so happy for everybody involved, and so proud to have been part of the wonderful experience that Philomena has been."
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
