'12 Years a Slave' wins best drama film

In a bittersweet night for the British film industry, Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave took home the best drama motion picture award at the Golden Globes.

London-born McQueen, who has won awards at Cannes, the Baftas and even the Turner Prize for his video artwork, thanked Brad Pitt because "without you this movie never would have got made".
