Energy boss: 'More could have been done'

The boss of UK Power Networks, which supplies eight million homes in the South East, said more could have been done in response to the storms that hit Britain over Christmas, leaving many without power.

3,315 without power in south east England

3,315 customers remain without power in south east England after overhead power lines were damaged in Monday's storm, UK Power Networks said.

This includes:

  • Kent: 1,745
  • Surrey: 680
  • Sussex: 890

Engineers and tree cutters are continuing to clear and repair lines and "good progress is being made", the company said.
