Energy boss: 'More could have been done'

The boss of UK Power Networks, which supplies eight million homes in the South East, said more could have been done in response to the storms that hit Britain over Christmas, leaving many without power.

Areas worst hit by power cuts after storm

Around 13,000 homes in the UK are without power after a storm with Kent, Surrey and Sussex the worst-affected areas, a UK Power Networks spokesman said.

Here is a list of the number of homes without power in different regions:

  • Kent - 5,000
  • Petersfield - 2,800
  • Surrey - 1,500
  • Sussex - 1,500
  • A further 1,200 in Basingstoke, Chichester, New Forest, Poole, Newbury and Portsmouth
