A man charged with the attempted murder of two police officers in Leeds has been remanded in custody after appearing in front of magistrates. A 33-year-old woman is in hospital recovering from serious gunshot wounds.

Man remanded in custody over police officer shooting

A 37-year-old man accused of attempting to murder a police officer who was shot during a routine call has been remanded in custody.

James Leslie is accused of shooting PC Suzanne Hudson in Cardigan Road, Leeds, on Wednesday and also attempting to kill the officer she was with at the time, PC Richard Whiteley.

PC Hudson, 33, was left with serious injuries to her face, neck and hand while PC Whiteley was left uninjured.

Leslie appeared before District Judge David Kitson at Leeds Magistrates' Court for a brief hearing this morning.
