Facebook UK has said that the technical difficulties experienced by many users were due to "network maintenance," but that these have now been resolved.

Facebook users are reporting being unable to post new statuses.
The problem seems to have begun at around 1pm UK time.
A spokesperson for Facebook in Britain was unable to confirm whether the site was suffering from technical problems.
