Record £630m on transfers
Premier League football clubs have reportedly spent a record £630 million on new players during the summer transfer window, which closed at 11pm last night. The previous record of £500 million has stood since 2008.
Liverpool sign two defenders on transfer deadline day
Liverpool have signed two defenders on transfer deadline day with French international Mamadou Sakho and Thiago Ilori joining the club.
The two signings have cost Brendan Rodgers' side, who are top of the league after three games, £25 million.
Sakho, who played for Paris Saint-Germain, told Liverpool's website: "I'm delighted to be here. I'd like to thank everyone for the welcome. I came here because the project that is in place at Liverpool interests me. I'm really looking forward to playing my first game."
