Prime Minister David Cameron would "warmly welcome" a knighthood for Mo Farah after the athlete became the first Briton to win both long-distance titles at the Olympic and World Championships, The Sunday Times has reported.
The newspaper quoted Mr Cameron as saying: "The Olympic and world double-double is one of the great sporting achievements. If the honours committee were to recommend Mo for a knighthood, I would warmly welcome it.”
Farah completed the set with victory in the 5,000m at the Worlds in Moscow on Friday, after which he was widely proclaimed as Britain's finest ever athlete.
