Comedian Mel Smith dies at 60
Comedian Mel Smith, celebrated for the long-running sketch shows Not the Nine O'Clock News and Alas Smith and Jones, has died of a heart attack at the age of 60.
Griff Rhys Jones: Mel Smith was 'a force for life'
Griff Rhys Jones has said Mel Smith was "a force for life" to everybody who met him, adding he was "a gentleman and a scholar, a gambler and a wit".
Jones added: "We are all in a state of shock. We have lost a very, very dear friend."
