Susan Taylor an 'experienced long-distance swimmer'

The Foreign Office has confirmed the death of Susan Taylor while attempting to swim the English Channel. A statement said:

On Sunday 14 July, whilst attempting to swim across the English Channel to France, Susan Taylor aged 34, from Barwell in Leicestershire collapsed suddenly in the water, just off the French coast.

Susan was immediately recovered from the water and received medical treatment on the support vessel. She was air lifted by helicopter to a French hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Susan was an experienced long-distance swimmer and had prepared tirelessly for the challenge ...

Susan took great pride in her fundraising for some amazing charities and we would like her sacrifice to be recognised in the only way she would have wanted.

– Foreign office statement

The statement also said that anyone who wishes to pay their respects to Susan's memory can donate to charity here.
