Rare Harry Potter book fetches £150,000 at auction
A rare edition of the first Harry Potter book, which was personally annotated by JK Rowling, has sold for £150,000 at auction.
The unique copy of Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone contains 22 of the authors own illustrations along with a revealing commentary.
Published in 1997, the book was sold to a telephone bidder at Sotheby's in central London, also up for auction was a copy of Roald Dahl's Matilda, with new illustrations by Quentin Blake, which sold for £30,000 making it the second highest sale of the evening.
