IAAF spokesman Yannis Nikolau said Oscar Pistorius would be able to compete at the World Championships in Moscow if he qualifies for the event.
If he qualifies for Moscow, and then on the basis of innocent until proven guilty, he will be free to run.
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
